After the success of Honda’s lower wattage generators, Honda launched this beast in the market with mind-blowing power, super quiet operation, and longer runtime with easy usage and maintenance.

Design and build quality: The front of the generator consists of a control panel, however, the back contains some vents and a spark arrestor.

The right side contains a manual starter, however, the left side contains a huge panel that can be removed to do the maintenance.

This is not a lightweight generator you have to buy a wheel kit to transport it smoothly; however, the built quality seems very strong with a perfect blend of durable plastic and metal.

Capacity or load test: Honda EU3000IS comes with a 196cc Honda GX200 engine that can produce 3000 starting and 2800 rated watts with pure sine waves to ensure clean and steady power. Well, I run pretty much everything in my RV with this beast below are the appliances I use to operate.

  • A refrigerator of 500 watts.
  • An oven of 1000 watts.
  • 13,500 BTU AC 2000 watts.
  • Vacuum 350 watts.
  • Space heater 1500 watts.
  • All lights, TVs, sound systems, etc. 1500 watts.

Also, it consists of parallel ports; you can couple two units to get double power.

Runtime, fuel options, and fuel tank size: Though the Honda EU3000IS is not dual fuel, still it has a 3.4 gallon of gasoline tank that can provide you 18 – 19 hours of runtime at 25% load, however at 100% I manage to get about 6 – 6.6 hours which is pretty decent runtime.

Also with the eco mode, you will get a slightly longer runtime, as eco-mode supplies fuel as per requirement.

We have also written an article on how much gas a generator use in general.

Because of the longer runtime and decent capacity, I mostly use this generator for my winter camping, this beast provides sufficient supply to power a space heater, electric stove, heated blankets, etc. simultaneously. Also with 65 – 75% I am getting around 8 to 9 hours of runtime.

Noise Test: Like the previous HONDA EU2200i this machine is pretty silent with perfect insulations. I run some tests to figure out how quiet this unit is.

I took my sound meter and ran two noise tests from 25ft. away, below are the results.

Honda Power Equipment EU3000IS Noise Test
Honda Power Equipment EU3000IS Noise Test
  • At 25% load, I got about 55 – 56 dB(A) on average.
  • At 100% load, I got about 70 – 72 dB(A) on average
  • With eco mode ON I am getting 52 – 54 dB(A).

Overall this is the best 3000-watt inverter generator available in the market.

Safety features: Like all Honda units, this machine comes with CO-MINDER (advanced carbon monoxide detector), low oil shutoff, and extremely low THD (total harmonic distortion).

CO Minder will always protect you from the high concentration of carbon monoxide; however, the low oil shutoff and Lower THD will protect your unit and voltage-sensitive appliances as well.

  • Longer runtime
  • Durable.
  • Easy to operate and maintain.
  • Safe for you, your appliances, and the environment.
  • Super quiet.
  • Multiple outlets.
  • Multiple startup options.
  • No wheel kit included.
  • Bulky.

This is one of the best 3000-watt generators available in the market with a powerful engine, eye-catching design, and super quiet operation with longer runtime.

Design and build quality: The design of this machine is pretty futuristic with a decent combination of durable metal and plastic. Everything is hidden under the frame to avoid excessive mess and sound.

Well, the front contains a control panel and a small battery compartment below the control panel; however, the back contains an exhaust and a spark arrester.

The right side contains a pull or recoil starter, however, the left side contains a huge panel that can be removed to fill the oil, change the air filter, etc.

The top of this unit has two handles for lifting but sadly it doesn’t have a wheel kit and foldaway handles like Champion 4500 watts or WEN 56380i. You should have a dolly to transport it easily.

Capacity or load test: Generac iQ3500 comes with a 212cc Generac powerful OHV engine that can produce 3500 surge and 3000 rated watts with power rush technology to produce 50% more starting wattage.

Also, this machine has <3% THD levels means you will get fluctuations-free voltages. As I don’t believe in written specs I have run the following home, camping, and worksite essentials to make sure that either it is reliable or not.

  • RV fridge of 500 watts.
  • RV air conditions of 1500 watts.
  • Projector and whole sound system 1200 watts.
  • Vacuum cleaner 450.
  • Space heater 1500 watts.
  • Microwave 1500 watts
  • Coffee maker 1500 watts.
  • Circular saw 1200 watts.
  • Chainsaw 1500 watts.

I didn’t find this machine under load at any point this is a great choice for those who want clean power.

Also, it is parallel capable you can connect another unit to double the capacity.

Generac Has claimed that this unit can run these all
Generac Has claimed that this unit can run all

Noise levels: This is one of the quietest generators available in the market, I took a few tests of this beast in my back yard and the results were just insane.

I took my sound meter and took two tests one with ECO mode ON and the other with normal mode from 20ft away.

Generac 7127 iQ3500 3500 Watt Portable Inverter Generator noise test
Generac iQ3500 3500 Watt Portable Inverter Generator Noise Test
  • With eco mode ON I am getting 46 – 48 dB(A) which is quieter than a normal conversation.
  • With normal mode, I am getting around 50 – 52 dB(A) which is insane.

I bet this machine is quieter than Honda’s popular generators.

Runtime, fuel types, and fuel tank size: Though this machine doesn’t have dual fuel its single tank of 2.6 gallons can last for about 14– 14.5 hours with 25% load, however with 60% load in harsh winter I got about 7.8 – 8.3 hours which Is not that bad.

I must say the manufacturer should think about dual fuel for uninterrupted running; however, you can carry a few gallons of fuel to spend 4 to 5 days camping.

Safety features: This generator produces lower than 3% THD levels, which means all voltage-sensitive appliances will be free from voltage fluctuations. Moreover, it has overload and low oil protection means the inner organs will be free from any hazard.

  • Compact and lighter.
  • Powerful and durable.
  • Super quiet.
  • Easy to use and maintain.
  • Multiple outlets and starting options.
  • Decent fuel capacity.
  • Safe and eco-friendly.
  • No wheel kit.
  • No dual fuel.

Window AC 12.000 BTU23001500
Washing machine23001200
Microwave0600

Besides decent capacity, this machine also offers parallel ports to double the power by combining two compatible units.

Noise: Like Westinghouse iGen4500 and iGen2200 this machine also has a perfect enclosure with double-insulated acoustic enclosure, low tone mufflers, and asymmetrically designed cooling fans to ensure the noise levels shouldn’t be irritating.

Below are some of the Noise tests I have conducted at different loads to figure out the actual insulation of the generator.

  • With eco mode “ON” I was getting around 57 to 58 dB (A) from 20 ft.
  • At 50% load, I was getting around 61 – 62 dB (A) from 20 ft.
  • At 85 -95% load I was getting around 64 – 65 dB (A) from 20 ft.

I must say this generator is as quiet as Honda’s famous models like EU3000is, EU2200i, etc.

Runtime, Fuel options, and Fuel Tank Size: Though WH3700iXLTc isn’t a dual fuel machine, still, the latest inverter technology ensures 7 -8 hours of runtime at 25 – 40% load with a single tank of 1.3 Gallons.

Moreover its “Economy Mode” allows the engine to operate at variable speeds as per the need to save more than 30% of the fuel.

What Can A 3000-Watt Generator Run?

If your unit has a 3300-watt surge and 3000 running watts you can use any device with less than 3200 surge and 2900-rated watts. We don’t want to operate our unit to its whole capacity to avoid overloading problems.

Overall a 3000-watt generator is ideal for normal power consumers who want to operate regular appliances, like refrigerators, space heaters, window AC, worksite tools, charging devices, etc.

Here is our detailed guide about what can a 3000-watt generator run.

Best 3000 Watt Generators Buying Guide

The following things should be considered before buying your first best 3000-watt inverter generator.

Wattages:

Every generator consist of two wattage ratings one is starting and the other is running both are equally important.

Starting watts provide sufficient power to start an appliance; however, the running watts constantly provide power so that your appliance won’t be stopped.

You should select a unit with sufficient starting and running wattage so that your all essentials can work perfectly.

We have written a guide about what size generator I need to make sure to have a look at.

Noise Levels:

Your selected machine should be quiet; a loud generator is not only a curse for you but also for the neighbors even in some national parks, not allowed to use higher dB (A) generators. A 3000w generator with 60 – 64 dB(A)is considered a good generator.

Runtime And Fuel Options:

Though it depends on the availability of fuel, still if you can arrange both gasoline and propane, make sure to give 1st priority to the dual-fuel generator.

Due to the large propane tank, dual fuel guarantees an uninterrupted run for a longer time. On the other hand, if you still want to get a gasoline unit make sure that it should have sufficient runtime.

I prefer to get a unit that can at least provide 11 – 14 hours of runtime on gasoline.

Outlets And ports:

Outlets and ports are most important for owners like me, I prefer to get a unit with RV-ready 120V 30amp outlet, USB ports, 120v, 20amp outlets, parallel ports, indicating lights, etc. so that I can attach anything I want.

Make sure to get a machine that can fulfill your outlet’s needs.

Parallel Ports:

parallel connection of HONDA EU2200i

Parallel connection is extremely important for those who want to increase the wattage capacity, you just need to purchase a parallel kit and connect the two same or different units from the same brand to get double or triple capacity.

Portability:

A lighter and compact unit with a wheel kit or carrying handle will always help you to transport it anywhere. On the other hand, a bulky unit without a wheel kit is a nightmare unless you are a weight lifter.

I always go for a lighter and more compact unit without compromising the wattage, since the higher the wattage higher the engine size.

The bottom line is you should go for a lighter and more compact unit that can be transported easily.

Safe And Eco-friendly:

Your selected unit must have low oil, overload, and voltage fluctuations protections, also Having a CO–miner is a plus point but we don’t recommend using it indoors even If your unit has a CO – miner so it is not as important as overload, low THD, and low oil protection.

Low oil protection will constantly care for your machine’s carburetor and fuel lines, however, the overload protection will care for your machine’s engine and low THD will protect your voltage-sensitive appliances.

Other than that your selected generator should release low to no Carbon footprints, as greenhouse gases are extremely harmful to our environment. Also, it should meet the standards of EPA and CARB.

Easy To Use And Maintain:

A generator with pretty easy maintenance and usage is a lifesaver for a lazy bone like me, I mostly prefer a unit with electric or even remote start so that I don’t need to do a manual startup.

Moreover, it should be easy to maintain. Don’t go for a generator that needs weekly maintenance, search for a unit that needs a little bit of maintenance like changing engine oil, air filter, spark plug, etc.
