EcoFlow Delta Max 2000 Review

I am writing this EcoFlow Delta Max 2000 Review after using this product for 4 months. I got my hands on this one after using EF EcoFlow DELTA 1000 for about 6 months, and I must say, I am extremely impressed by this updated version.

I have only used it for camping and general off-grid living for only 1 month when it was brand new. I am reserving this one for the emergency power at home.

So based on my experience, this is a very high-capacity power station with a whopping 2400 running watts and 5000 surge watts.

The thing that makes this unit unique is that you can add two 2000Wh to this unit to expand it to a 6048Wh unit.

I have NCM battery composition which is known for long life cycles. Read this research to know more about these powerful batteries.

EcoFlow Delta Max also features X-stream charging technology that can charge the unit from 0 to 80% in 55 to 60 minutes. If you don’t want fast charging, flip the switch on the back to slow charging speed.

Unboxing of EcoFlow Delta Max

  • Power station
  • AC charging cable
  • Car charging cable
  • Solar charging cable
  • DC5521 to DC5525 cable
  • User manual

I like that we don’t have to purchase charging cables separately. The user manual was also helpful. Even a non-tech guy can understand the basic installation and charging steps.

Design of EcoFlow Delta Max:

EcoFlow-Delta-Max-2000-design

I would proudly say that EcoFlow Delta Max is one of the most thoughtfully, and precisely engineered solar generators on the market. The detailing in the design is insane.

This power station is not lightweight and not too heavy. Weighing 48 pounds with19.6 x 9.5 x 12 inches in dimension, it is a camping-friendly device for RVs and trailers. It is compact and portable with a low center of gravity.

It has two handles on the top for carrying it around. It is made of quality plastic (hard polymer) and there are no loose ends. This thing can withstand some serious wear and tear on the road.

The flat-top opens up to reveal all the charging cables, overload protection switch, and X stream fast-charging port. It is made that way to save and utilize every bit of space left on the power station.

Now let’s talk about that LCD screen. It shows a ton of useful information about battery remaining percentage, charge/discharge time, temperature warnings, input/output power, battery stats, errors, AC output, etc. EcoFlow went all in when they were making this LCD screen.

How Do You Charge an EcoFlow 2000?

Like other Ecoflow power stations, delta max has also 3 charging options with AC X-stream fast charging technology.

Solar Charging:

Delta max can accept a maximum of 800 watts of solar input up to 110V which is massive. I am currently living in my farmhouse and the weather here is sunny all the time, so I am having a bowl with solar charging.

You can also use other than EcoFlow solar panels as long as they as MC4 connectors.

You also have the option to plug-in battery packs while the Delta max charges. They all will charge in unison (they all charge together).

The device will completely charge from 0 to 100% in about 3.3 to 6 hours depending on the weather.

If you are looking for the top-rated solar generators of 2022 here is the guide.

AC Wall Charging:

Ac charging is where these EcoFlow devices excel. The X-stream technology allows this device to charge from 0 to 80% in just 67 minutes according to my tests.

Your device will be fully charged in under 2 hours via a wall outlet.

Car Charging:

I have changed it using a car charger only once. It takes around 20 hours to fully charge EcoFlow Delta Max solar generator using a 12V car charger. It is slow as a turtle but you will have the luxury of using it while it charges.

What Appliances EcoFlow Max 2000 Charge?

In case of an emergency, this unit will charge the following devices off one charge:

What Is The Performance of EcoFlow Delta Max?

This power station is purely made for emergency backups. Last month, we suffered severe power outages due to storms.

I got many power stations, solar systems, and portable generators, but I wanted to test this thing during an outage and nature got me covered (sarcastically).

This thing packs a serious punch. I was able to power my essentials throughout the day while it was being charged from the solar at the same time.

I was able to run a small heater, my laptop, charge a few batteries, and run a mini 60W fridge, few lights, and electrical stove regularly without a problem.

The thing I love the most is the X-Boost feature which is used to control the discharge rate. From 2400 running watts discharge, you can increase it to 3400 watts to power devices in this range while the rated watts will remain at 2400 watts. It helped me run some power-hungry devices.

If you want to cross the 2400 watts output power limit, then don’t power any sensitive appliance.

I am a huge tea guy, and it draws about 100W to boil the water (5% of the battery), my kettle is rated at 1060W. It drains about 1 to 2% of the battery if you want a toast.

Load Test of EcoFlow Delta Max:

For the load test, I hooked up a few devices that gather up roughly 2400 watts.

During the test, the discharge rate fluctuated between 2300 and 2500 watts. The average discharge was around 2400 watts.

As advertised, EcoFlow Delta Max ran all the devices while the discharge rate was at 2400 watts until the battery depleted. Impressive.

I pushed my power station to the limit because I was testing it. I won’t recommend running these devices to 100% all the time. It will ultimately shorten the lifespan of the device. Keep it between 70 to 75%. Use the X-boost option if you need that little extra power.

Should I Buy an EcoFlow Delta 2000?

If you need a powerful solar generator for emergency backups and outdoors, you should buy an EcoFlow Delta Max. This device is rated at 2400 watts, 5000 surge watts, and 3400 watts with an X boost feature. It has 3 charging options, a 2016Wh battery, and a ton of different outlets, it charges from 0 to 80% in 67 minutes via an AC outlet and accepts 800W of solar input with up to 110V.

What I Like

  • Very powerful and reliable
  • Perfect for emergency backups
  • Fast charging technology
  • Loaded with different outlets
  • Large battery capacity with a low discharge rate
  • Informative display screen
  • You can add two 2000Wh battery packs to this unit

What I don’t

  • A bit bulky and pricy
  • Car charging is really slow
